Gilbarco (NZ) is a company which combines two core businesses : the provision of services and products to the petroleum industry and the sale and servicing of weighing, testing and point-of-sale equipment. 

Company Origins

The origins of the company in New Zealand date back to 1929 with its modern configuration resulting from the merger of Avery (NZ) Limited and Pump Maintenance (New Zealand ) Limited in 1989. The company which was formed : 'GEC Avery (NZ) Limited', changed its name to Marconi Commerce Systems (NZ) Limited in 1999. When it was sold to the Danaher Corporation of the USA in February 2002, the name was again changed to the present Gilbarco (NZ).

National Coverage

The company Head Office is in Wellington and there are regional centres in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch.

The core businesses are conducted from 17 branches throughout New Zealand, from Whangarei to Invercargill. A fleet of one hundred service vehicles operate from these to provide a truly national coverage.

The hallmark of Gilbarco (NZ) has always been entrepreneurial flair : great people with great imagination doing great work. This is backed up with ongoing investment in staff training and development in company, product, industry and health and safety issues.

The Head Office in Wellington incorporates a regional sales and service branch, a central warehouse, and electronic repair and research and development facility, a 24 hour a day 7 day a week customer call centre and national marketing, purchasing, and health and safety resources in addition to the company Finance and Administration Department.

Weighing and Testing Service Division

Working on both a regular contract and a call-out basis, the Weighing and Testing Division handles preventive maintenance, repair and installation work in the industrial and retail sectors.

Retail products serviced range from simple price computing scales and EFTPOS terminals through electronic cash registers to complex dynamic weigh/wrap/labelling machines and PC point-of-sale systems.

Industrial coverage is equally extensive with service on products ranging from laboratory balances through to weighbridges and weighbridge control systems.

The division also caters to the banking fraternity, installing and servicing a wide variety of equipment from electronic whiteboards to automated teller machines.

Technical Expertise

As a consequence of three decades of massive and unsurpassed technological change, service skills must cover mechanical, electrical and state of the art electronic equipment.  A continuous programme of product training ensures that technicians can support the latest products.  Refresher courses ensure that skills learned are not forgotten.

A majority of weighing and testing technicians are accredited to verify and certify weighing equipment to Ministry of Consumer Affairs standards.

Calibration and Certification

Gilbarco (NZ) is accredited by IANZ to NZS/ISO/IEC 17025:2005 and offer a comprehensive calibration service of mass and force.  Calibration Laboratories in Auckland, Hastings and Christchurch provide quality service to industry, commerce, research and education customers throughout New Zealand.  Masses, scales and balances, weighbridges, dynamometers and materials testing machines are regularly calibrated and certified.

Installation and repair work is carried out for many third parties on a sub-contract basis.  Whether the customer is a major multi-national company or the owner of a corner dairy, Gilbarco is dedicated to providing the very best standard of service.
