This was a typical high capacity weighing project utilising 4 x DSM3 34t load cell mounts per silo. The Dairy industry powder silos provide unique problems for the installers, including settling and movement of the building when the 120 tonne vessels are filled. In the past, serious distortion of the silo had occurred when one of the beams carrying the load cell mounts had settled more than the others. The project managers decided to manage this risk in future installations by monitoring each load cell's output, and automatically sounding an alarm and shutting down the fill operation if the individual load cell weights varied by more than 10%. Rinstrum blind 1203 loadcell transmitters were used with each load cell.

Our engineers comissioned the weighing system, jacking shimming and levelling each loadcell mount so that load distribution was within 1-2%. (See photo).
